Prophetess Mary Bushiri, wife to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, was in Dowa on Thursday morning to continue her birthday celebrations—this time through donating food and clothing items to over 100 disadvantaged families. According to the Prophetess, whose birthday was on Monday 23rd August, the gesture was purely driven by her resolve to fulfil God’s call on His people to show love to those in need. Said the Prophetess: “Each and every year, I celebrate my birthday mostly with family and friends. This year, moved by the great love that God has always been showing to me, I thought of celebrating my birthday by showing love to less fortunate families in Dowa District.
” Over 100 families comprising the elderly, people with disabilities, people with chronic illnesses, child-headed homes benefited from the gesture. The ceremony was held at Dowa 1 Primary School; however, beneficiaries that couldn’t manage to walk to the event due to challenges such as old age and blindness—Prophetess Bushiri’s team visited them in their homes and delivered the parcels. Dowa District Social Welfare officer Doris Gondwe thanked Prophetess Bushiri for remembering the less fortunate people of Dowa—a district she said is always ignored by many in their charity programme. “You did not come here to tell us the love of God. You have showed us the love of God. God bless and continue to protect you,”
she said.
